I offer in-person piano lessons to anyone based in and around Dundee. Online piano lessons are also available to those living outside the Dundee area. I always use the highest quality video and audio equipment in my online lessons to deliver an engaging and enjoyable learning experience.

My 30-minute piano lessons are ideal for beginners who want to get started on the right note. You will receive a tailored lesson from an experienced and professional teacher, giving you the perfect introduction to playing the piano.
1-hour Piano Lesson

For more advanced students, my 1-hour piano lessons will help you develop your skills and improve your playing. I will provide personalized instruction tailored to your individual needs and offer guidance on proper technique and practice habits. At the end of each lesson, you will have gained the knowledge, confidence and independence to continue practising the chosen piano repertoire on your own.

As a dedicated piano teacher, I offer personalized guidance and extra help for students tackling the grade 5 ABRSM theory exam. With my help, you'll be able to unlock your full potential as a musician.

My lessons are available both online and in-person. Face-to-Face piano lessons are open to anyone living in Angus, especially Dundee. These lessons are conducted in my home studio, with the highest possible quality digital piano. I can also offer piano lessons online for those with a busy schedule or living farther away. I always use the best quality audio and visual tools in my online lessons, which are specifically designed for delivering remote music lessons. I strive to provide my students with the best possible experience whether they opt for online or face-to-face piano lessons.
Piano lessons are available lasting 30-minutes or 1-hour. I can also accommodate more irregular times on a case-by-case basis and depending on other commitments.
Music theory lessons are also available for anyone who wants help meeting ABRSM's theory requirements for grade 6+.

About My Lessons
My piano lessons are always tailored to the interests and goals of the individual student. Everyone is different and what we cover in our piano lessons will depend on what the student hopes to achieve.
For all students, children and adults, there are two key areas on which we will focus. Firstly, we focus on the ability to read music fluently, which greatly enhances a student's enjoyment and also the speed with which they can progress. Secondly, we will build finger dexterity and skill through fun but essential finger exercises. In addition to these fundamental skills, we will study a wide range of pieces, songs and other music according to the student's interests and what they want to play.
I also believe in integrating theory into lessons from the earliest stages, especially with children. This is best achieved by including analysis of the structure, form and features as part of the process of learning a new piece of music. And it will improve the student's appreciation and understanding of the music they play.

Michael Hegarty is an experienced and passionate piano teacher based in Dundee. He has been teaching piano for over 5 years, and loves to bring out the best in his students - regardless of their age or skill level.
At MH Piano Lessons, you can choose to have 30-minute or 1-hour lessons, at a rate of £15 and £30 respectively. With a focus on building both technique and musicality, Michael is dedicated to helping his students achieve their goals.
